The Daneway Inn

Tucked away near Sapperton on the banks of the disused Thames and Severn Canal, The Daneway is the kind of pub you stumble across and never forget. Originally built in 1784 as cottages for canal workers, it’s now a proper countryside local with bags of character.

What we recommend

• Long lunch — this is a destination, not a quick stop. Take your time
• Sunday roasts — served 12–4pm, followed by pizza until 6pm
• The garden — overlooking the canal, it’s a gorgeous spot in good weather
